Diwali Corporate Gifts 2026: A Practical Planning Guide for Indian Companies

Diwali is the biggest gifting occasion in the Indian corporate calendar. Most companies know this. Most of them still leave it too late.
This guide is for HR managers and marketing teams who want to plan their Diwali gifting properly - before October becomes a problem.

Why Diwali gifting is different from other occasions
Most corporate gifting occasions are predictable. A new employee joins, you send an onboarding kit. A client closes a big deal, you send a thank-you gift.
Diwali is different. Everyone gifts at the same time.
That means vendors get overwhelmed in September and October. Good products go out of stock. Customisation options disappear. Delivery slots fill up weeks before the festival.
The companies that get Diwali gifting right aren't the ones with the biggest budgets. They're the ones who start planning in June and July.
What to decide before you contact a single vendor
1. Who are you gifting?
Make a clear list before anything else. Employees, clients and vendors all need different approaches. The same hamper that works for a 30-person team won't feel right for a key client relationship worth ten times that in annual revenue.
Separate your list into tiers:
Team members and staff
Regular clients and business contacts
Key relationships and senior clients
This takes 30 minutes. It saves hours of back-and-forth with vendors.
2. What is your per-person budget for each tier?
A rough range per tier works better than a single number:
Staff and team: ₹800-₹1,500 per person
Regular clients: ₹1,500-₹3,000 per person
Key relationships: ₹3,000 and above
These aren't rules. They're a starting point. Having any number in mind before you talk to a vendor means you're not deciding on the spot, which almost always results in overspending.

3. Do you want branded packaging?
This is the question most companies forget to answer early enough.
A Diwali gift in plain packaging and a Diwali gift in a box with your logo, ribbon in your brand colours and a personalised card are not the same gift. The product inside can be identical. What the recipient experiences is not.
Custom packaging takes time. Artwork needs to be approved. Production needs to be scheduled. If you want branding on your Diwali gifts, you need to confirm the order at least six weeks before Diwali.
In 2026, Diwali falls in late October. That puts your branding deadline in mid-September at the latest. Which means the conversation with your vendor needs to start in July.
4. How many cities are you delivering to?
Single office deliveries are straightforward. Multi-city orders are a logistics job.
If your team is spread across Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi and Hyderabad, you need a vendor who has reliably delivered to all four cities - not just one. Ask specifically. Not all gifting companies have the same logistics reach.
What to actually order
Here are the product categories that work well for Diwali corporate gifting in India, and what to consider for each:
Dry fruit and food hampers
The most common Diwali corporate gift in India, and for good reason. Dry fruits, nuts, mithai and chocolates in a well-presented box are appropriate across almost every corporate relationship.
What separates a good food hamper from a forgettable one is not the contents - it's the packaging and the presentation. A beautifully boxed hamper with a personal card outperforms a more expensive hamper in a plain box almost every time.
Price range: ₹800-₹3,000 per hamper depending on contents and packaging.
Branded desk accessories
Notebooks, bottles and pen sets with your company logo have a long shelf life. They stay on desks. They get used daily. Every time someone reaches for that notebook or bottle, they see your brand.
For Diwali specifically, these work best as part of a hamper - a branded notebook alongside sweets or dry fruits - rather than as standalone gifts.
Price range: ₹1,200–₹2,500 depending on product quality and branding method.
Premium gift boxes
For key client relationships and senior contacts, a curated premium box with multiple items - candles, artisanal food, a skincare product or a quality accessory - makes more of an impression than a single product.
The investment is higher, but so is the signal it sends. A thoughtful premium box says the relationship matters enough to spend time on. A standard hamper, however well-packaged, doesn't quite do the same job at this level.
Price range: ₹3,000-₹8,000 per box.
Eco-friendly gifting options
Bamboo, jute and organic packaging options are increasingly requested by companies with sustainability commitments. These aren't significantly more expensive than conventional options and send a clear signal about your brand's values to recipients who notice these things.
Price range: similar to standard options, sometimes 10-15% higher for certified organic materials.

The Diwali gifting timeline for 2026
Here is a realistic schedule to work backwards from Diwali in late October 2026:
June–July: Finalise your recipient list and budget tiers. Start conversations with two or three gifting vendors. Ask for catalogues and sample options.
August: Shortlist your vendor. Request samples of your chosen products. This is also the last comfortable point to explore premium options with reasonable lead time.
Early September: Place your confirmed order. Finalise branding and packaging. Approve artwork before production begins.
Late September: Confirm all delivery addresses. Multi-city orders need address lists finalised at least three weeks before dispatch.
First week of October: Gifts should be in production and packaging. Status check with your vendor.
Mid-October: Dispatch begins. Gifts should reach recipients before or during Diwali week.

Three things that go wrong every year
The last-minute call. Every October, companies call gifting vendors three weeks before Diwali needing 200 branded hampers. By then, branded packaging options are gone, quality product selection is limited and rates are higher. The gifts go out on time. They just don't look like anything.
Inconsistent quality across a large order. When a company places an order of 300+ units with a vendor who doesn't quality-check at scale, recipients in different cities receive noticeably different-quality packaging. One office gets pristine boxes. Another gets dented lids and loose ribbon. This is fixable by asking your vendor specifically what their quality control process is for large orders.
We covered what to ask vendors in detail here: Blog 2
No address list ready. The gift is ordered. The vendor is waiting. And HR is still chasing the office addresses for 15 employees who joined in the last two months. Build your address list in September, not October.
A note on Diwali 2026 specifically
Diwali in 2026 falls in late October - around October 20-21. That's slightly earlier than 2025. If you're used to finalising orders in October, this year's calendar means you're already cutting it close.
Companies that placed their Diwali orders with us before August last year received every product exactly as sampled, with full branded packaging, delivered on time to four cities. The ones who came to us in October received good gifts - but not the same level of finish.
Start in July. You'll thank yourself in October.
